What Is Blue Light?
What is blue light?
Blue light is a portion of visible light spectrum which is also known as High Energy Visible (HEV) light. Its wavelength ranges from 380-500 nm.
Where is blue light?
The sun is the most important source of natural blue light. The sources of artificial blue light are digital screens (found on TVs, Smartphones, computers, laptops, tablets and gaming systems), electronic devices, LED and fluorescent lighting.
What are the benefits of blue light?
Blue light actually has many benefits. Blue light during daylight hours helps regulate the body’s sleep and wake cycles (circadian rhythms)which is very important for the body's physical and mental state. Blue light also promotes alertness and cognitive function and boosts memory.
What are the negative impacts of blue light?
In our modern life, escaping from artificial lights is inevitable especially at nights. Studies show that over exposure to blue light can cause eyestrain, fatigue, eye dryness and headaches. But the major disadvantage of blue light exposure is distorting the natural pattern of sleep/wake cycle that results in night sleep disorders. Long lasting sleep disorders would be the cause of other disorders like heart disease, diabetes, depression and fertility.
How to get protected?
There are a few solutions to get protected from harmful blue light exposure like turning off lights, reducing digital screen time and using digital filter applications.
The easiest yet affordable solution is blue light blocking glasses. This type of glasses block the blue light emission by using a filter layer.
The Radix™ Blue light blocking glasses just like an accessory are light weight and easy-to-carry. Everybody can use it anytime and anywhere.
